School Wellness Policy Triennial Assessment
Ogallala Public School District takes pride in supporting our students' well-being in
schools. We are addressing issues to give our children the best foundation for success. Every three years schools across Nebraska review their Wellness Policies to make sure we are meeting all requirements.
Our wellness policy was assessed as part of the USDA requirements. We utilize the recommended evidence-based tool WellSAT.
Our District Score:
Total Comprehensiveness: 65
Total Strength : 30

We are always finding ways to improve OPSD. This October we started the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program for Preschool - 3rd grade. This allows these students to try new fruits and vegetables 4 days a week and learn more about nutrition through activities in their classroom. Ogallala will promote the importance of breakfast by participating in the Nebraska School Breakfast Challenge 2024. These are just two of the ways we are promoting and improving our Wellness Policy.
We are always looking for more members for our Wellness Committee. Please call Caroline Spurgin, 308-284-4060, if you would like to attend the next meeting.
