At the March OPSD School Board meeting, the board honored 3 model students and one dedicated educator! These students & staff have shown what it means to do things “The OG Way.” They are risk-takers in and out of the classroom, show grit in all they do, and take ownership of their learning. We are so proud of our March students of the month, Lillie Mungia (elementary), Braulio Merida Gonzalez (middle grades), Lillian Holthusen (high school), and staff member of the month, Wes Schmer! Keep up the great work! We greatly appreciate our community sponsors for donating prizes for these individuals to honor their accomplishments!

Michael, a Prairie View 3rd grader, put his PBIS points to great use by challenging Mr. Slama, PV Principal to a game of checkers! Through our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program, students earn points for showing respect, responsibility, and kindness—then get to redeem them for fun rewards like this one.
It was a friendly but competitive match, filled with strategy, laughter, and great sportsmanship!

Last week Mr. Skiles' Geography students were climbing to the top of Mount Everest! Each day was a different stretch of the ascent with different challenges. Students faced challenges, such as walking on ladders over giant cracks in the ice, needing their oxygen masks when reaching certain altitudes, climbing the Hillary Step, and finally leaving our marker on the summit. We love to see our students highly engaged in hands-on lessons!
