⚠️Attention OG Fans⚠️
As we gear up for the OHS teams to begin their seasons, we all strive to stay connected with the latest updates, but it’s crucial to be aware of fake accounts trying to scam you. Scammers are getting sneaky, creating fake profiles that look like they belong to your school or sports teams. Here’s how to protect yourself from these phishing scams:
✔️Verify Before You Follow: If you see a new account claiming to be your school’s official sports page, double-check before you follow or engage. Often times they try to pose as the NSAA or opposing schools.
✔️Beware of DMs and Messages: Fake accounts might send you direct messages or comments asking for personal information, payments, or offering exclusive deals. Always be suspicious of these requests—official accounts will never ask for sensitive info through DMs.
✔️Check for Red Flags: Be on the lookout for spelling errors, generic greetings, or messages that don’t sound quite right. These are often signs that the account is fake. If something feels off, it probably is.
✔️Don’t Click on Random Links: Even if a message looks like it’s from a verified source, be cautious about clicking on any links. Scammers can make fake links that look legit but lead to harmful websites.
✔️Report and Block: If you come across a suspicious account pretending to be your school, report it immediately. Blocking fake accounts helps protect you and others from falling victim to scams.
Stay updated with the OPSD pages!
Stay smart, stay safe, and keep cheering for our OHS Indians —just make sure you’re following the real deal!
