
OHS will host their annual 8th-grade visitation day on Friday, April 26 from 11:15-1:30. This is for all current 8th-grade students and parents. Parents are welcome to join us at 11:45. The schedule of events is as follows:
11:00 All high school students dismissed
11:15 8th graders arrived at high school
11:15 - 11:45 8th graders eat lunch in the commons
11:45 - 12:15 Presentation in the PAC
12:15 - 12:45 Student Council seniors take a group touring the building
12:45 - 1:30 Presentation of Activities in the gym


Ogallala High School had eight students qualify for the Nebraska Class B State Journalism Competition 2024. The students competed on Monday, April 22nd in Norfolk, NE. These students competed in the following categories and earned state medals:
Advertising: Tayvin Lutz - 5th place
Editorial Cartooning: Aelyn Cain - 7th place
Editorial Writing: Charlie Nielsen - 8th place
Entertainment Review Writing: Charlie Nielsen - 3rd place, Payton Jehorek - 6th place
In-Depth News Coverage: Olivia Benge (Interviewing), Aelyn Cain (Writing), Lindee Henning (Artist), Alivia Rodriquez (Writing/Layout), Eideann Tuttle (Writing), and Emily VanBorkum (Research/Interview Questions) - 6th place

Emma Trammell (Varsity Volleyball Coach) and Varsity Volleyball players are hosting a four-day volleyball clinic open to any 3rd-5th grade student. The cost is $10 per player. Please have permission slips signed with the $10 fee to Mrs. Towell by April 26th. Space is limited so please get forms back as soon as possible! The OHS boys golf team had a chance to play the state tournamnet course today at the Scottsbluff invitational. As a team, the Indians shot a 370. Individually Sawyer Smith fired a 91, Oliver Nielsen and Caleb Castillo 92, Rylan Gilmore 95, and Connor Bell 96. Way to go, O!
Next up for the Indians: JV travels to Cozad on Monday and Varsity has SWC tournament at home on Thursday, May 2.

The Ogallala boys golf team continued a busy week yesterday at Wild Horse Golf Club in Gothenburg. As a team, the Indians shot a 356, for 7th place. Individually Rylan Gilmore continued his solid season medaling in 7th place with a 78, Caleb Castillo shot 83, Sawyer Smith with a 96, Connor Bell 99, and Oliver Nielsen 100. Another great effort!
Next up for the Indians: Varsity travels to Scottsbluff on Monday. Go Big O!

We are excited to announce that OHS Senior, Jaden Fanning, has decided to further his academic & rodeo career at Laramie County Community College. Jaden will be part of the LCCC Rodeo Team. We are SO proud of you, Jaden! #CultureOfConfidence


The OHS Boys JV golf team competed against Paxton in a "Ryder Cup" style dual at Crandall Creek. Players played best ball, alternate shot, and scramble format on alternating holes. It was a great day and a lot of fun for all involved!

The OHS boys golf team competed today at the challenging Heritage Hills in McCook. As a team, the Indians shot a 366, for 6th place. Individually Rylan Gilmore medaled in 15th place with an 86, Caleb Castillo shot 88, Connor Bell with a 95, Sawyer Smith and Oliver Nielsen each with a 97. A great effort on a demanding golf course! Way to go, O!
Next up for the Indians: Varsity travels to Gothenburg on Thursday.


5th Grade Visitation Day is scheduled for Monday, April 29th at Prairie View School. Students will have the opportunity to participate in mini sessions, learning about the processes of middle school. Mini sessions will begin at 2:00 and conclude at 3:00. After the mini sessions, the entire group will discuss scheduling and exploratory glasses. Parents are welcome to join at that time.

At last night's OPSD School Board Meeting, School Resource Officer Taylor Malzahn, presented to the board and audience members. He discussed his role as an "SRO," the benefits of having an SRO in the schools, and how things have gone thus far. We are so excited to have been able to partner with the Ogallala Police Department to allow Officer M to support our administration, staff, and students. Keep it up, Officer M!



It was a very windy day at Perkins County, but the Ogallala JV Boys golf team braved the conditions. The Indians shot 422 as a team with Sawyer Smith firing a 97, Isaac Orth 98, Charlie Nielsen 105, and Griffen Schrotberger 122. Way to go, O!

Mr. Fruit's Leadership Class visits Prairie View Kindergarten every Wednesday morning. Last week the students in Mrs. Staab's class built a Dinosaur Museum and taught the visitors all about dinosaurs! The students had tickets, displays, a kid's explore section, and even a gift shop! We love seeing our students showcase their learning!
