The OHS Marching Indians received a Superior rating for their final performance of the 2023 season at the Nebraska State Bandmaster’s Festival in Kearney! We are so proud of this group and appreciate all their dedication to all things OPSD. Way to go, O!

OHS FB ends their regular season with a fantastic 28-14 win against the Holdrege Dusters! This earned them a 7-2 record for regular season play. The team will begin playoffs next week- we will pass details along as they become available.

Prairie View Elementary has been awarded the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program grant this school year! Students will receive a free fresh fruit or vegetable snack in the afternoon, four days per week. Teachers will provide nutrition education activities in the classroom to increase students’ knowledge of the health benefits of eating fruits and vegetables. We are excited to introduce our students to a variety of unique fruits and vegetables this school year! #FFVP #NESchoolMealsRock
In lieu of the OHS Homecoming Parade, a pep rally was held at Prairie View Schools on Friday, October 13th. Students K-12 were able to attend and enjoy all the school spirit! The gym was roaring with cheering and laughter! Also in attendance were Dennis Quinn and Barb Macomber, the Wel-Life royalty.

At the October OPSD School Board meeting, the board honored 3 model students and one dedicated educator! These students & staff have shown what it means to do things “The OG Way.” They are risk-takers in and out of the classroom, show grit in all they do, and take ownership of their learning. We are so proud of our October students of the month, Kaleena Schmittler (elementary), Lou Menotti (middle grades), Charlie Nielsen (high school), and teacher of the month, Jennie Coggins! Mrs. Mayden's English I students have been studying a unit of "What does it take to survive a crisis?". They have read many short stories and are now reading Lord of the Flies. They were challenged to build survival shelters with what they could find outside. They rose to the challenge and showed that STEM and Language Arts work together.

OMG 7th grade Volleyball Team competed at a tournament in Paxton today. The team took 1st place! They won in 2 sets against Paxton and 3 sets against Sutherland finishing 15-0 in the third.

Last night at the OHS Homecoming Football Game the 2023 homecoming king and queen were crowned! Caden Rezac was crowned king and Emily VanBorkum was crowned queen. We are proud of you! ✨
